"Extremely Nasty" -- David/Todd 2003-2006

[David sees Jack]
David: Hey, look at this big guy, huh? Hey, Jack. You remember your uncle --
Walker/Todd: You touch that kid, I'm going to kill you.
David: Whoa, them's fighting words, Tex!

David: (about Jack) Hey, I wouldn't harm a hair on this little guy's head. He and I go way back. But I'll tell you, I bet he doesn't remember when his evil father told poor Blair here that her little baby was d-e-a-d.
Blair: And you didn't have any problem going right along with it for a very large fee, I'm sure.
David: Todd threatened to cut my tongue out if I told, Blair!
Blair: Well, Todd isn't here anymore.
David: Well, I wish I could say that I'm sorry for your loss, but the last time I saw your ex, he was extremely nasty.
Blair: What's that supposed to mean, Vickers?
David: Well, he couldn't exactly have me around, knowing that I could tell the truth about little Jack, so he arranged a little trip for me to Morocco, which lasted approximately 13 months, 10 days, seven hours, four minutes, and some odd seconds rotting in some horrible Moroccan prison.
Walker/Todd: Sounds to me like you got off easy.
David: Just exactly what is *your* problem, "Mitch's brother"? You don't even know me.

[The phone rings at Dorian's house...David picks it up]
David: Hello.
Walker/Todd: Vickers?
David: Yes?
Walker/Todd: What the hell are you doing there?
David: Mitch's brother. You sure seem to pick the strangest times to call.
Walker/Todd: Let me talk to Blair.
David: Oh, I would, but -- actually, this is kind of embarrassing. Blair and I were skinny-dipping. I'm standing here dripping wet. I came inside to get some towels.
Walker/Todd: Put Blair on the phone.
Blair: Who's that on the phone?
David: The Lord household already has aluminum siding. Good night. (hangs the phone up, turns to Blair) Telemarketers.

[David is pawing Blair]
Walker/Todd: Get your hands off her, Vickers!
David: My goodness, everyone in the Lord household's all grumpy this morning.

[Blair and Dorian are referencing "Walker" as "Todd" much to David's confusion]
David: Why do you keep calling him Todd?
Dorian: Because that's who he is.
David: I thought Todd Manning was dead!

David: (aiming a gun at Todd) It really is you, Manning. You don't look half bad for a dead guy.

[Todd fired his lawyer and is now representing himself in the rape trial]
Judge: Your next witness?
Todd: Uh -- I hereby call myself to the stand?
David: This is unbelievable. (looking around for a candid camera) Where is Allen Funt?

Kevin: Blair just blacked out and collapsed at The Palace restaurant.
David: Does anybody know why?
Kevin: Yeah, Todd Manning's why.
David: Todd Manning is always why.

[David comes to visit Todd in jail shortly before he's released]
Todd: What the hell are you doing here?
David: Give me a moment to savor this. This is such a satisfying moment. You look traumatized. Have you lost weight?
Todd: That's -- that's great. Enjoy it while you can, Vickers. It won't be much longer.
David: Yeah, I heard. Another travesty for the American justice system.

David: Kevin Buchanan is not ordinarily one of my go-to guys, but when I heard that he bought "The Sun" out from under you when you were incapacitated -- (laughing) I got to say, it made my day.
Todd: I'm happy for you.

Todd: Do you recall the last time you tried to get between Blair and me? This place is like Disneyland compared to where you ended up.
David: I don't intend on taking you on myself. I'm not really qualified for that kind of thing. I know people whose work is much more thorough.

Todd: So, you give a damn about someone beside yourself. Congratulations, Vic. Since when?
David: Since now.

[Todd has bought Blair several dozen roses]
David: The flowers smell old. They must have been on sale.

[Kelly thinks that she has murdered Paul]
David: Who? Who else knows about this?
Kelly: Todd! Todd! I called Todd.
David: You called Todd Manning? Are you suicidal?

Todd: I think you're trying to find a way to mess up my life.
David: You know what? You don't need me to help you do that, Todd.

[David, Todd and Kelly are looking for Paul's body in the landfill]
David: Now, are you guys sure that when you lugged the body here he was actually dead?
Todd: Well, you killed him. What do you think?
David: I didn't stop to give him a physical, Todd.

[Kelly asks Todd if he's planning to stay at Dorian's]
Todd: I'm going to stay here, keep an eye on him [David].
David: Oh, yeah. Blair won't find that at all suspicious, and Dorian probably won't come after you with a shotgun.

David: (entering Todd's penthouse) Wow, this place must have been great -- in the 1980s.

David: Why are you seeing Blair?
Todd: Talk about the future. What do you care?
David: So you want to know if Blair's lost her mind to the point that she'd be willing to share a future with you?

[David sees a present that Todd has wrapped to give Blair]
David: So you're buying your way back to Blair? You're going to need a bigger box.
Todd: Just keep quiet and we'll all be happy.
David: Should I have Blair scan this before she opens it?

Todd: If Blair asks you anything about what I've been doing lately, whether or not I've seen Kelly --
David: Basically, anything that would tip her off to the fact that you're still a psychopath?

[David tells Todd that Blair saw him, Todd and Kelly coming back from the landfill]
Todd: Did you say anything?
David: That we went diving for Paul's corpse? No, no, I didn't say that, but I did have to something.
Todd: And?
David: Well, if you remember, you guys looked like hell that night. You were pretty rumpled, and you know how Blair's mind goes straight to the gutter....

Todd: You told Blair I was trying to make her jealous.
David: Well, yeah. That lets her understand that you still love her. I thought that was good.

Todd: I don't know what Paul's got on Kelly. She wouldn't tell me.
David: But you confessed to a phony affair because that's what gentlemen do?
Todd: No, I wanted to see Kevin writhe in pain.
David: Now, you see, that I would believe.

David: (to Todd) Good luck being sincere with Blair tonight.

Todd: Should I go?
David: Yeah, why not. Here's the door.
Blair: (pulls Todd toward the living room) Why don't we go in here -- away from David.
David: (hollaring after them) Don't you sit on the furniture!

David: (to Kelly) Look, Todd may be on good behavior right now, but that guy's a train wreck waiting to happen.

[Todd shows up at the former "Sun"/current "Craze" office]
Todd: Hey, Vickers.
David: Very dramatic. Now is not a good time, Todd.
Todd: I was feeling nostalgic. I thought I'd come by and take a tour of the old digs.
David: Yeah, well, it won't be a guided one.

David: Why would you want to buy "Craze" for me?
Todd: Because Blair loves it here, and I want her back here.
David: Yeah, you and me both.
Todd: She only quit because of Kevin. She shouldn't be made to suffer for standing by me.
David: Yeah, she's suffered enough for that, hmm? You made her think you were Walker Laurence. You made her think her baby was dead.
Todd: Yeah, I really don't need a list from you. I know I've got a lot to make up for.
David: Yeah, well, you better hope that reincarnation is for real because you're going to need more than one lifetime.

David: You want to buy the magazine for Blair. Rats. You see, I thought you were buying the magazine for me.
Todd: You'd still be a big part of the "Craze" team.
David: Oh, yeah, that's really reassuring.

David: Well, it's been a real scream, Todd. It really has, but if you'll excuse me, I've got a deadline.
Todd: Look at this -- buzzing around your office like a busy worker bee. This isn't like Vickers. Answering to Kevin Buchanan, are we? For God's sake.
David: Beats working for you.

[Todd, David and Kelly are being blackmailed by a mysterious woman]
David: She's only asking for 20 grand? Hell, Todd, cut her a check.

Todd: (to Kelly) You can't trust Vickers.
David: Hey, I'm standing right here, you know!

[Todd walks up to David]
Todd: Here's the deal.
David: It's always nice to see you, too, Todd.

[Kevin wants to know why David was talking to Todd following Todd's firing from "The Banner-Sun"]
David: I was suggesting to Todd that since he's going to be spending quite a lot of time in the unemployment line, he might want to invest in some sensible shoes.

Blair: How does "Craze" look?
David: Why don't you ask your charming husband? Since he now owns "Craze," he wants to be in charge of every detail.
Blair: David, he just wants to make sure that --
David: That the magazine is smarter, edgier, very hot, very hot. I got the memo. I'm working for the devil now.

Blair: David, Todd is just restless right now, and I'm sure if he were still the editor of "The Banner Sun" that he wouldn't be bothering you.
David: Oh, no, he's not bothering me.
Blair: Good.
David: He's driving me insane.

Mrs. Bigelow: So, how do you like working with Mr. Manning, now that he's taken over at "Craze"?
David: Could be quieter.

David: (about "Craze") Todd really owns the majority of the shares, but he likes me.
Dorian: Todd likes you?
David: Ah, he doesn't hate me -- right now.

David: (giving a toast) To Todd and Blair being out of town. I do miss Blair at "Craze," although most of the good ideas are mine. I don't miss Todd staring over my shoulder every 15 minutes, telling me what I'm doing wrong.

[Blair isn't sure that Todd really wrote the letter she found in which he breaks up with her]
David: Let me see that. (examines letter) That's his handwriting, all right.
Dorian: How would you know that?
David: I've been forging his signature since 1994.

[Dorian tells David she has bad news -- Todd is probably dead]
David: Uh-huh? What's the bad news?

David: Todd dead? No way. He wouldn't give any of us the satisfaction.

David: Todd's always looked to me as sort of a mentor. You know, he's become quite a survivor type by watching me.

[Todd is alive and at the police station; David and Dorian stop by immediately]
David: We had to see the bad news for ourselves.
Dorian: (seeing Todd) Dear heaven, he really is alive.
David: Damn it!

[Blair is missing and Todd wants to help the police find her]
Todd: All right, if it's manpower you need, I'm on it. I will do anything to help. I will pick through every piece of garbage.
Dorian: Oh, picking through garbage. That's the perfect job for you.
Todd: Well, isn't that how you found Vickers?
David: Hey. (to Dorian) Are you going to let him get away with that? I thought we were in the middle of a truce here -- putting our heads together, combining forces. Teamwork and all that crap.

[Todd and Kevin discover Kelly and David listening to their conversation]
Todd: Were you two eavesdropping on us?
David: Well, of course we were eavesdropping. Do you have a statement that you'd like to make to the press?

[Todd wants to know how David knows Spencer]
David: Oh, I just met him, got sucked into talking sports with him, you know.
Todd: Must've been a one-sided conversation. I didn't know you were a fan of anything but money.
David: Well, it's worked for me so far. Why give up on it now, right?

[David and Dorian have heard that Todd is in the hospital]
David: Maybe we should go to the hospital and see if there's anything we can do to make him more uncomfortable.

[Spencer asks Blair if she has any reason to suspect Todd has lied to her]
David: (interrupting) Other than the fact that he probably had his fingers crossed?

[Todd says that he's planning to take care of Margaret]
David: Huh. Well, I, for one, believe him.

[The electricity is out at the "Craze" office]
Todd: How long have you known about this blackout?
David: I don't know, an hour. But the lights are back on, so thank you for your concern.

[Starr says she's fine with talking to Dorian alone]
Todd: (to Starr, about Dorian) I'll be right outside in case she starts to stir her cauldron.
David: Hey, you're out of line. She doesn't own a cauldron.

David: There's only one thing I know for certain about you, Todd.
Todd: I'm not interested, Vickers.
David: And that is that you care about your kids. It's a sensation I never really understood until I became part of the Cramer family.
Todd: And you got it now, huh?
David: Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do.

[David offers to help Todd with the Margaret situation]
David: I know people. You know, you don't spend time in a Moroccan prison without making a contact or two.
Todd: What is your angle here?
David: My angle?
Todd: I put you in that prison!

[David observes Todd talking to mobster Jackie McNaughton]
David: If that's your idea of taking care of the Margaret Cochran situation, you're going to have a problem. I mean, a guy who tries to choke someone to death in an emergency room? Consider the irony. I don't think this guy's cut out for it.
Todd: But you are?
David: No, I didn't say that. But I don't think that you're handling the situation very well. Now, don't get mad. What you need to know is that I care about Starr. I don't want to see her get hurt any more than you do. So if this guy can't cut it, you know where I live. (pause) You do know where I live, right?

[Dorian asks David what he and Todd were talking about]
David: Pilates.

David: You worked for Todd Manning at "The Sun" when I was at "Craze."
Denton: Yeah, that's something about Todd Manning being sentenced to death.
David: Yeah, pretty wild.

David: You know, speaking of Todd, he would always lose control when it came to Blair. At least he won't be around this time to see her with Spencer.

Paige: I don't think that Todd should have to die for murdering Margaret Cochran.
David: Well, everybody's got their own opinion about that one. Besides, he's probably not going to die. Evangeline Williamson will probably appeal. She'll get him life.
Paige: He doesn't deserve that, either.
David: Yeah, it does seem a little harsh. That whack job went after his entire family.

Spencer: Have you seen Todd?
David: No, I'm not exactly the first person he'd look up after he escapes from a fiery airplane.

[While David is at Dorian's house, he gets a phone call]
David: Hello?
Todd: It's Todd.
David: What do you want?
Dorian: Aw, is there something wrong?
Todd: Are you alone?
David: As a matter of fact, I'm not happy with my long-distance company, but I'm in the middle of something. I'll hear you out later.
Dorian: Oh, you're making a date with a telemarketer?
Todd: Listen up, Vickers. We're going to destroy your brother before he destroys us.
David: I'm interested, but I need to hear you out just a little bit later.
Todd: I want you to meet me at mile marker 28 off old route 11 in one hour. If you give me up, I really will be guilty of murder.

David: Spencer or Todd? Pick your poison.

David: Well, I guess there's only one option -- I join up with an erratic, possibly homicidal lunatic with authority issues.
Paige: You don't think you can trust him?
David: Oh, no, absolutely not. He'd annihilate anyone that came between him and Blair.

[Todd has knocked David out and tied him to a chair -- now he tries to wake him up]
Todd: Come on, wake up, wake up. I need you awake.
David: If you left a mark on my face, I'm going to kill you.

Todd: I need your help.
David: You want to run that by me again?
Todd: I said I need your help.
David: Yeah, that's -- that's what I thought you said. You know, this is just a suggestion, but you might not want to use violence when you're asking somebody for a favor.

Todd: I had to make sure you wouldn't run to the cops.
David: I think you know that I make it a habit to stay away from the cops. Besides, if I turned you in, it would've been Bo and the boys in blue that showed up on that road in the middle of nowhere, not yours truly, so you want to untie me?

David: If you told me on the phone, I just would've met you here.
Todd: Would you have come?
David: I guess that's a good question. Spending time with a convicted double-murderer is not my idea of good health.

David: Why would I help you? You've been nothing but pain and misery to people that I care about.
Todd: Huh, I didn't think you cared about anybody but yourself.
David: That's a myth. I happen to give a damn about a lot of people -- Dorian, for example, and Kelly.
Todd: And Blair. Look what I did to poor Blair and my poor children.
David: And not to mention what you've done to me. You know what? Spending time in Statesville -- you think that's bad? You ought to spend time in a Moroccan prison.
Todd: That was a long time ago.
David: Yeah? Well, two years in a hellhole like that -- you don't quickly forget that.
Todd: Do you want an apology?
David: Cash works.

David: I'm not doing anything for you for nothing. I hate your guts.
Todd: I think you hate your brother's guts more than you hate mine. And I think you're sick and tired of sucking up all that anger towards him. I think you want to do something about it.

David: I would love to see Spencer get what never seems to be coming to him. I thought you actually had a viable plan. Apparently, all you want me to do is do your dirty work for you, so no. You picked the wrong ally.
Todd: You hate me that much?
David: Whether I hate you is irrelevant. I don't have anything on Spencer. I can't help you.
Todd: So, let me get this straight. I'm going to get the lethal injection and you won't help me because you're too much of a freaking coward to stand up to your brother.
David: Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

David: What if the evidence doesn't even exist?
Todd: It does. There's no such thing as a perfect crime. Just, we got to lead the cops in the right direction.
David: Oh, yeah? How are we going to do that? "Hey, the doctor did it." The case is closed, Todd.

David: So, let me get this straight. We have established that my brother is capable of first-degree murder. So you want me to stick out my neck to save yours? I wouldn't do that for a million bucks.
Todd: How about 2 million?
David: Yeah, all right, I'll do it.

Todd: All right, when you get the evidence, go to the cops. Not before. And don't come back here. It's too dangerous.
David: I can hardly wait.
Todd: Hey, listen to me. If you turn me in, they're going to put me to death, but I'll put you to death first.

Margaret: I don't know any Spencer, or Todd, for that matter.
David: Todd Manning! The guy that you shot in both of his legs on his wedding day, held him captive in a mountain cabin until you tried to blow him up. That Todd Manning?

David: Margaret, listen to me, listen. You've got to help me. Todd is going to die in less than a month, and he is a very good friend of mine.

David: Margaret you were in love with a man named Todd Manning.
Margaret: Well, did he love me back?
David: I know he had very strong feelings for you.
Margaret: But how could I forget somebody that important?
David: It didn't end well.

Spencer: All right, look, man, you know -- I mean, whatever bad blood there is between us, I don't want you dead, ok?ay
David: Yeah, just Todd Manning, right?

David: (to Spencer) Todd Manning may not have killed Margaret, but he is far from innocent.

[Dorian comes to visit David in jail]
David: Todd offered me a million dollars if I could find evidence to clear his name and I found her.
Dorian: I hope you got that in writing.
David: Oh, don't worry. He'll pay up. $2 million is a bargain.
Dorian: Oh. 2 million -- hmm. Just a moment ago, you said he offered you 1 million.
David: Fine. $2 million -- which, by the way, I'll be happy to spend the rest of our lives sharing with you because if I don't get out of here, I'm as good as dead.

[David sees Blair and Spencer out together at a bar]
David: What a happy little gathering. Are we celebrating something? You know, Blair, when you got engaged to Todd -- again -- I thought to myself "that's the biggest mistake she's ever made." Apparently, I was mistaken.

Spencer: They don't have enough evidence to convict. So why don't you just have a little faith, and you will be a free man.
David: That's probably what Todd Manning was thinking, too.

[John has a nightmare in which he watches David strapped to the table about to be executed]
David: You looking for me? This is what you wanted, isn't it? Eye for an eye?
John: I can't hear you.
David: Shades of Todd Manning?

David: Where is it? Where's the satchel with my 2 million bucks?
Todd: I have no idea what you're talking about.
David: The $2 million you promised for saving your life. I hope you got large bills. I don't want to carry a turkey out of here with my back and all.

David: You're alive because of me. You're out of jail, alive. That's worth $2 million.
Todd: Yeah, I'm alive, but I'm alone.
David: Is that why you called me over here, to -- keep you company?

Todd: I want to know where my son is. I want you to tell me what Margaret did with him.
David: You give me the $2 million, I'll tell you.
Todd: Tell me, I'll give you 10.
David: Damn, why do they always offer to pay more when I'm bluffing?

Todd: Spencer knows where my son is?
David: He stashed Margaret in Thailand. He probably knows where your kid is. I'm telling you Spencer's your guy, but you didn't hear that from me. So now that I've been helpful yet again, what do you say -- give me 1 million, we'll call it even.
Todd: Forget it.
David: Blair really picked a winner.
Todd: Yeah -- Spencer. And that's going to cost her, but it's nothing compared to what I'm going to do to your brother.
David: A grudge match between you and Spencer? Why do I see all of Llanview burning? I'll tell you one thing -- when this whole thing's over, only one of you will be left standing.

[Todd addresses those he has invited to his party]
Todd: All right, so, you all had a part in saving my life, whether you like it or not.
David: Hey, bring me two of these every 10 minutes till I pass out.

[David watches Todd go around the room thanking everyone gathered for believing in him]
David: (whispering to those nearest him) Is this where he pulls the pin?
Todd: (turning to David) No, David, I'm going to spare your life.
David: Oh. Well, actually, not necessary. The way things have been going lately, a blaze of glory might be the way to check out.

Todd: I want to return the favor.
David: What favor?
Todd: If you're innocent, I want to help you prove it.
David: You hate my guts.
Todd: Yes.
David: You hit me with a rock.
Todd: Yes.
David: You sent me to prison in Africa.
Todd: Yes.
David: But now you want to help me?
Todd: Yes.
David: Okay.

[Todd wants to know the name of someone in Thailand who can help him find his son]
David: There was a -- a bartender at the hotel. His name started with a p -- private, private, pri-- anyway, it started with a P.

[Spencer has just proposed marriage to Blair at the hospital gala, and she accepted; which pissed off Todd]
David: How about that public proposal, huh? Pretty tacky. It must've stung a little. I'm sure that's why my brother did it. He always goes for the utmost humiliation, but you did good -- called him out in front of everybody, toasted his happiness. Too bad he didn't choke on it, huh?
Todd: He will.

[David and Todd watch Spencer and Blair kiss]
David: Well, that's disgusting.
Todd: It's a purpose kiss.
David: Purpose being?
Todd: Like a -- like a purpose pitch. You watch baseball?
David: Are you delirious?

David: (to Spencer) So that technicolor proposal you gave Blair last night -- that's all going to be for naught, isn't it? Because as soon as she finds out that you convinced her that Todd was a murderer, she will never forgive you. And then once that's out in the open, it's just a matter of time until Todd and Blair go running into each other's arms, just like they always do.

Paige: Wow. Spencer was willing to let Todd die, just so he could have a straight shot to Blair.
David: How many guys do you know would instigate a double murder and an execution just to keep two people apart?

Spencer: You just really can't handle the fact that Blair's going to be my wife, can you, Todd?
Todd: I wouldn't schedule any conjugal visits if I were you, Truman.
David: "Conjugal?"
