TUC ON HIS PERSONAL LIFE
On His Family
"My real name is Charles Curtis Watkins III. My dad and my grandpa are Curt Senior and Curt Junior. When I was little, I used to say things backward. My best friend was Tommy and I called him Mot. I wasn't dyslexic, I just spoke like an idiot. So my parents said, 'Say Curt.' And I said, 'Tuc.' And they said, 'Oh, that's cute. We'll call him that for the rest of his life.'" (SOD 11/7/95)
(on what his parents thought of his decision to act) "Unfortunately, it's a really boring story, because they've always been so supportive of everything I've ever done. They encouraged me to get a practical degree in college and my dad was paying for my schooling so I agreed with him. I got a fairly practical degree in telecommunications." (SOD.com October 2005)
(on what he did before the 2006 Daytime Emmys) "I babysat my two-month-old niece. Her name is Mary Charles Robinson. ... Well, she did cry most of the time that I was
babysitting her. I am available to be hired out as a babysitter, but I don't really reccomend myself!" (SID 6/20/06)
Various Tuc Quotations
(his idea of a perfect vacation) "A double serving of eggs Benedict, then scuba diving, then horseback riding, followed by lunch in Tuscany, followed by a one-on-one conversation with Cary Grant's ghost, followed by dinner in Paris and sleeping under the stars in Tahiti." (SOW 9/28/04)
(on whether or not he speaks French due to his minoring in French in college) "I minored in French, psychology, and theatre, which simply means if you take five courses at a Big Ten school you get a minor. I can't say that I'm fluent, but I can get by. I could get lost in Paris and probably get directed to London." (SOD.com October 2005)
"Any rumor about my departure from OLTL is simply and entirely that, a rumor. I have no idea how rumors like these get started, but I do understand that Demi Moore's 'Rumer' was started by Bruce Willis." (SOW 1/31/06)
(on rennovating his home) "I don't fall in love with property. Homes are things we buy, we live in, and then we move on. I like those kinds of projects, because so much of what I do as an actor is intangible. To be able to work on things with my own hands and say, "Hey, look what I did," is good on an actor's psyche." (SOW 11/28/06)
(on supporting the WGA writers strike) "It's rarely convenient to stand up for what's right. But what's right is making sure a fair deal is made." (SID 12/17/07)
(what topic gets him fired up) "Separation of church and state." (SOD 2/3/09)
(what he'd title his autobiography) "'Do I Need to Save My Coupons For When I Get to Heaven?'" (SOD 2/3/09)
"I love splitting my time between doing something mentally artistic, like acting, and physically artistic, like renovating." (SOD 2/10/09)
"I would have had a double major in theater if I'd taken costume design, but I was afraid of the sewing machine." (SOD 2/10/09)
