OLTL: David Returns! (SOD 5/13/08)

"We're not bringing David back in a boring way," declares Head Writer Ron Carlivati of the beloved scoundrel, who resurfaces in Paris, TX, this week.

"The last time we saw David, he had a lottery ticket from Viki that he scratched off and we saw that he had won a dollar and went off with that ticket. We're going to see how that ticket changed David's luck in different ways," previews Carlivati. "Similar to when Viki went away and we went backward and showed what happened to her from the time she left to when she ended up at the Bon-Jour Cafe, we find out what happened to him."

Flashbacks serve to demonstrate how David arrived at the diner after striking out in L.A. and having a run-in with the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club. Now, he's working as a kitchen assistant at the same diner where Viki took a hiatus from her Llanview life last fall.

And it's just his luck that Jared and Natalie, who shared a romantic weekend at Asa's nearby ranch, pop in the diner and don't realize he's only a few feet away when they start talking "family business." "She knows that the company is vulnerable and that David is money-hungry and couldn't care less about the family or the business and could definitely jeopardize them fending off any more attacks on BE," says Melissa Archer (Natalie). But that money-grubber is listening in, and after witnessing the pair sneak a kiss, realizes that there's more than family business between them. Of course, David immediately sees the money-making potential of this revelation.

Meanwhile, fans are dying to know whether it will finally be revealed to David and the rest of the Buchanans that he is one of them. "I won't promise 100 percent that he's going to find out this go-round, but we are taking another big step forward in that story," assures Carlivati. "It won't just be him in the dark."
