Spencer is Bad Medicine For David & Dorian! (SID 7/5/05)
On One Life to Live, David struggles to keep a lid on a sordid past.

The In Depth Story: We now know that Spencer is David's brother (and that the doc has a past with Paige as well), but such reveals only beg bigger questions. Like, why doesn't David get along with the brother he never mentioned? Addressing the sibs' shaky relationship, headwriter Dena Higley shares, "We have always thought of David as this funny, devil-may-care, ex-con man with an interesting past but nothing really that heavy. By bringing on Spencer, things are being said between them that [show] there is quite a bit of weight [to their past]. People like Blair and Dorian sense that their connection ties them together in a way that, if they didn't have to be tied together, they wouldn't be.

"There is some secret that bonds them," she adds. "Spencer is more la la la about it, so he holds all the power over David. We're not going to make David all of a sudden not funny, but what's in their past is very not funny, and we will build on the mystery of that."
