David
Two of a Kind (SID 4/27/04)
Realizing at last that she is meant for David, Dorian pops the question
to the con man of her dreams.
Ever since David Vickers returned to Llanview, he's been trying to get the
attention, and the trust fund, of his partner in crime, Dorian Lord. After
almost as many marriage proposals as the scheme queen has had marriages,
she came to a stunning realization: David had changed -- and all for her.
As a result, the lifelong vixen did something even she had never done, and
popped the question to her suitor! Here's how the whole scenario -- weirdly
romantic as it was -- finally came to pass.
Leading Up to Love
It all started at Capricorn, where Dorian was talking to R.J. about niece
Kelly's new baby boy. R.J. wondered why, in all her glory, Dorian was at
a bar. She explained that she was meeting David, and R.J., ever skeptical
of Vickers, asked why. After all, she had just left him at the altar! "Oh,
R.J., a lot has happened since then," assured Dorian.
Snickering, R.J. replied, "Well, watch your back -- and your jewelry."
Not long after R.J.'s warning was issued, none other than dapper David himself
entered. He asked Dorian how Kelly was feeling, and she explained that her
niece was doing fine, and she had left her so the girl could be alone with
Kevin and their newborn baby. David seemed very relieved that Kelly was doing
all right, and Dorian, in turn, appeared to be touched that he was so concerned
about her family. "You mean [what you're saying], don't you?" Dorian asked.
David nodded thoughtfully. "I care about your girls, too, you know," he replied.
(Never mind that he once cared so much about Kelly that he tried seducing
her!)
Soulmates
Dorian then told David that so many couples don't have the strong bond that
they share, and keep horrible secrets from one another. He agreed and alluded
to the fact that they knew everything there was to know about one another
--- the good, the bad and the indifferent. More importantly, despite this,
they still liked one another. Finally, Dorian admitted that, yes, for better
or for worse, they were made for each other, and suggested that they tie
the knot.
The Perfect Kiss
It wasn't exactly like the magnificent marriage proposals that Dorian was
used to, but her and David's relationship has always been slightly out of
the ordinary. And with David's honest display of love and affection for his
lady plastered all over his face, how else could the debonair rascal respond?
Laughing with delight, and pure joy in his eyes, David replied, "Yes, I will
marry you."
The overjoyed couple then embraced and passionately kissed each other like
they were the only two people in the room.
Words To Remember...
David: You still seem to like me, don't ya?
Dorian: Well, you renovated my house, you went through all that trouble
setting up the wedding, and you got a job. Oh, what the heck am I waiting
for? (throws her shawl on the ground in true Dorian fashion, and gets on
one knee) David Vickers, will you marry me?
